Screening For Airports And Aviation

Regulated screening, inspected regimes and equipment that cannot be down. RedteQ supplies, hires and maintains aviation screening equipment for regional airports, business aviation terminals and FBOs — and supports DfT-certified aviation consultants with the systems they train and operate on.

What You're Actually Trying To Stop

Aviation is the one sector where the standard genuinely is airport-grade, because the regime is set for you. The real questions are not what to detect but how to stay compliant, how to keep equipment serviceable, and how to afford the right kit without a capital programme.

  • Prohibited articles to a regulated standard — the list is defined for you; the equipment has to meet it.
  • Explosives, in trace and in bulk — cabin and hold baggage, plus trace detection on hands, bags and cargo.
  • Air cargo threats — full pallets and freight, screened to standard without slowing the shed.
  • Downtime — an inspection failure or a machine out of service is an operational and regulatory problem at once.

Our recommendation

What We Supply Into Aviation

From a business aviation terminal screening a handful of passengers to a freight shed screening pallets, the requirement is the same: compliant equipment, kept running.

Cabin Baggage Screening

Smiths Detection HI-SCAN 6040aTiX (620 × 420 mm) and 7555aTiX (755 × 555 mm) dual-view systems with automatic explosives detection, for C1 and C2 cabin baggage regimes — on long-term hire as well as purchase, so compliance doesn't have to be a capital programme.

Hold Baggage & Cargo

Large-tunnel and full-pallet systems including the first two Hissco cargo X-rays installed in the UK, supplied, installed and certified by our own engineers.

Trace Detection

Smiths Detection IONSCAN 600 and 500DT from an authorised reseller, with our own lab-bench repair, calibration and verification.

What You Probably Don't Need

You don't always need to buy. Smaller airports and private jet centres regularly meet the same regulatory standard using refurbished equipment upgraded to current standards and leased monthly, with service included — a fraction of the cost of new, with the same compliance position. And you don't need a different supplier for every technology: the X-ray, the archway and the trace detector can all be maintained by one team on one visit, which is usually the difference between a checkpoint that stays serviceable and one that doesn't.

In practice

How It Runs Day To Day

1

Specified and installed

Delivery, positioning, commissioning, image verification and radiation compliance by our own engineers, not subcontractors.

2

Maintained to schedule

IRR17-compliant X-ray servicing, ETD calibration at least twice a year, and parts on the shelf for immediate repair.

3

Supported when it matters

Emergency call-out, remote diagnostics, and a hire fleet of 300+ systems if a replacement is faster than a fix.

We also support aviation training providers and consultants with the equipment their courses depend on — see the TSA partnership below.

Who we already do this for

Business Aviation And FBOs

Private jet centres and FBOs carry the same regulatory weight as a regional airport with a fraction of the security budget and no in-house engineering team. It is a large part of what we do: Gama Aviation, Multiflight, Leeds East Airport, Harrods Aviation, Centreline, London Biggin Hill Airport and Farnborough Airport are among the aviation operators we supply, service or support.

What that usually looks like: a compliant cabin baggage system and an ETD, on long-term hire with service included, installed and maintained by the same engineers — so the compliance position holds without a capital programme or a second supplier.

"RedteQ has provided service maintenance plus 24hr support on all our security screening equipment for a number of years... They are a highly qualified and professional company and I hope to extend our working relationship as our airport grows."
