Big Tunnel, Tight Timeline

The first two Hissco cargo X-ray systems in the UK, installed across two sites for an air-freight operator in the Heathrow area. Container to fully built and certified in three days, using a forklift our own engineers were licensed to drive.

Air cargo screening machines are the heavyweights of the fleet: tunnel openings up to 1.8 metres square, multi-tonne conveyor loads, and buildings that were rarely designed with them in mind. Getting one in, positioned, powered and certified is a specialist job.

As exclusive UK & Ireland distributor for Hissco International, RedteQ supplied, installed and commissioned Hissco HS 1818 DV 200kV full-pallet systems at two separate sites for a freight operator near Heathrow in 2026. These were the first two Hissco cargo X-ray systems installed anywhere in the UK, and they have set the standard for what follows: image quality, build quality and turnaround that the operator now measures every other system against. Route survey, offload, rigging, positioning, build, commissioning, radiation compliance and operator familiarisation: all by our own team, at both locations.

Forklift Trained, So Nobody Waits

Systems this size arrive in a container, and most installers then wait on someone else's plant and someone else's driver. We don't. RedteQ engineers are fully forklift trained and certified, so we simply hired in a forklift and did it ourselves: the system came off the container, straight into site, and the entire machine was built using the forklift as our lifting gear.

It removes a whole category of delay from the programme. No third-party lift crew to schedule, no standing around while a slot is found, no handover of responsibility halfway through a lift. The result at both sites: fully built, tested and certified on day three, with the operator screening freight straight after.
